100% pure Pashmina base fabric. Pashmina is the fine, soft underfleece of mountain goats, prized for its lightness, warmth and drape.
A laboratory certificate of authenticity is included with your shawl. Embroidery threads, where present, are separate from the Pashmina base.

Pure Pashmina

Pashmina begins with the fine, insulating undercoat of Changthangi goats from Ladakh’s high-altitude plateaus. Its softness, lightness and warmth make it one of the world’s most prized natural fibres.

From fibre to finished shawl

Fine underfleece is collected from Changthangi goats in Ladakh.

- Clean & dehair. Dust and coarse guard hairs are removed, leaving the delicate Pashmina fibres.
- Spin the yarn. Our Pashmina includes both hand-spun and machine-spun yarn, depending on the shawl.
- Handwoven on the loom. The weaver guides the shuttle by hand, interlacing warp and weft to build the cloth.
- Hand Tilla embroidery. The woven Pashmina is decorated with Tilla hand embroidery. Some pieces combine Tilla with Sozni needlework.
- Wash & finish. The shawl is washed, dried and carefully finished.
- The finished shawl. Soft, light and beautifully fluid. A journey of skilled hands, brought together in one shawl.
KASHMIRI CRAFTSMANSHIP

A fine metallic thread rests on the cloth. A second thread secures it, one small stitch at a time. Follow the making of Kashmiri hand Tilla.

The design takes shape
The motif is drawn on tracing paper, with the shawl’s border and corners in mind. Here, a floral motif grows around a curling stem.
Tiny holes follow the drawing
The drawn lines are perforated with a fine point. These small openings let marking powder pass through the tracing paper.
The outline reaches the Pashmina
The perforated paper is placed on the cloth and dusted with marking powder. Lifting the paper reveals a dotted guide for the embroidery.
Two threads, two different roles
Tilla is the decorative metallic thread. A separate, finer sewing thread passes through a needle to fasten the Tilla to the cloth.
The Tilla follows the motif
The artisan guides the metallic thread along the marked design. It stays on the fabric’s surface, bending carefully around each curve.
Small stitches hold the Tilla in place
The needle carries the fine sewing thread through the cloth and over the metallic thread. Each small securing stitch holds the Tilla against the surface. This is couching.
The motif grows, stitch by stitch
Laying and securing continue together. Curved outlines, leaves and small details gradually build the motif, with the same care repeated along the shawl.
The finished work is checked
The embroidered surface is checked for neat curves, secure stitches and loose ends. The completed Tilla catches the light while the Pashmina remains soft and fluid.

Our grandfather, together with his brothers, carried the family’s work beyond Kashmir. They travelled across India, including Allahabad and Varanasi, introducing Kashmiri craftsmanship to customers far beyond the Valley and building relationships across the country.

Our father and his brother worked alongside our grandfather from the ground up, helping shape every part of the business. They expanded manufacturing, built a strong wholesale presence in the local Kashmiri market, and established the family business as a trusted and respected name in Kashmir.
