Rich in colour and abundant in detail, the Papier-Mâché Mehr Gul Sozni Merino Stole reflects the celebratory spirit of Kashmiri papier-mâché at its most expressive.
Set on a deep ruby-red merino wool base, the surface is filled with structured floral panels—each framed and embroidered with remarkable precision. Soft blush pinks, turquoise blues, leafy greens, and warm saffron tones come together in a carefully balanced palette, creating contrast without chaos. The repeating square motifs lend the piece a sense of rhythm and order, while the flowing paisley borders soften the geometry.
Entirely hand-embroidered in fine Sozni work, this Stole represents long hours of concentrated effort. Each panel is outlined, filled, and revisited multiple times to ensure consistency across the surface. The density of the embroidery is deliberate—it speaks of patience, endurance, and an artisan’s quiet commitment to getting every detail right.
The fine merino wool base allows the embroidery to remain wearable despite its richness, draping fluidly while offering gentle warmth. Finished with an embroidered border and a solid tonal panel, the piece feels festive yet grounded—ornate, but never overwhelming.
A Stole made not just to be worn, but to be cherished—carrying colour, care, and countless hours of human touch within its threads.
Soft and warm, with a gentle texture and comfortable drape.
