Deep, immersive, and quietly powerful, the Papier-Mâché Neel Gul Sozni Merino Stole is inspired by the layered floral compositions found in traditional Kashmiri papier-mâché—where colour sits atop colour, never rushed, never sparse.
Set against a rich midnight-blue merino wool base, delicate floral vines unfold in soft rose, powder blue, muted coral, and warm rust tones. The colours are intentionally restrained yet expressive, allowing the embroidery to feel fluid rather than ornamental. Fine outlines in warm thread trace each motif, giving the surface depth and movement, much like hand-painted papier-mâché forms.
Entirely hand-embroidered in Sozni, this Stole is the result of sustained, patient work. Each vine is built stitch by stitch, requiring steady hands and an intimate understanding of balance and spacing. The artisan revisits the same forms repeatedly, refining their flow until the design feels continuous—almost effortless—though it takes countless hours to achieve.
The fine merino wool drapes softly while offering gentle warmth, making the piece versatile across seasons. Finished with a carefully embroidered border and a solid tonal panel, the Stole carries a composed elegance—rich in detail, grounded in restraint.

Our great-grandfather began working with Kashmir’s master craftsmen around 150 years ago, beginning a family relationship with Kashmiri craft that continues to this day.

Our grandfather, together with his brothers, carried the family’s work beyond Kashmir. They travelled across India, including Allahabad and Varanasi, introducing Kashmiri craftsmanship to customers far beyond the Valley and building relationships across the country.

Our father and his brother worked alongside our grandfather from the ground up, helping shape every part of the business. They expanded manufacturing, built a strong wholesale presence in the local Kashmiri market, and established the family business as a trusted and respected name in Kashmir.
