Hand crewel embroidery · Kashmir

A bed dressed in Kashmiri craftsmanship.

Hand Aari embroidery in our Kashmir workshop.

Leaves, flowers and curling vines take shape in hand-worked chain stitch. On a soft cotton base, the embroidery gives the surface its colour and raised texture.

Each bed cover takes months of patient work. The matching pillowcases and cushion covers carry the design across the bed.

Five pieces. One considered setting.

A bed cover, two pillowcases and two cushion covers, designed to be arranged together. Pair them with plain sheets to give the embroidery room to stand out.

From the first line to the final stitch

  1. Design

The motifs and their arrangement establish the bed cover’s design.

  2. Crewel embroidery

Kashmiri artisans work linked chain stitches by hand across the cotton base.

  3. Pattern takes shape

Months of handwork build the flowers, leaves and flowing lines of the design.

  4. Finishing

The bed cover, pillowcases and cushion covers are carefully checked before dispatch.

Our Family Archive

A 150-Year Family Legacy

Our Great-Grandfather

Peerzada Saif-Ud-Din

Our great-grandfather began working with Kashmir’s master craftsmen around 150 years ago, beginning a family relationship with Kashmiri craft that continues to this day.

Our Grand Father & his brothers

Peerzada Bashir-Ud-Din

Our grandfather, together with his brothers, carried the family’s work beyond Kashmir. They travelled across India, including Allahabad and Varanasi, introducing Kashmiri craftsmanship to customers far beyond the Valley and building relationships across the country.

Our Father & his brother

Peerzada Naseer Ahmad

Our father and his brother worked alongside our grandfather from the ground up, helping shape every part of the business. They expanded manufacturing, built a strong wholesale presence in the local Kashmiri market, and established the family business as a trusted and respected name in Kashmir.

Fourth Generation

Noumaan & Hamees

Today, the fourth generation carries the family’s work forward through KashmKari. Building on the relationships, craftsmanship and knowledge passed down through our family, we are taking Kashmiri craft directly to customers around the world while continuing to work with artisans here in Kashmir.
